ZINCHENCKO ON ARSENAL RADAR – REPORT

Manchester City defender OleksandrZinchenko is a target for North London giants Arsenal according to the report from English publicationDaily Mail. Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta could raid former club Manchester City twice this summer with the interest in Ukrainian international Zinchenko in addition to the interest in Brazil international Gabriel Jesus.

Brazilian attacker Jesus will most likely leave Manchester City this summer after the Premier League champions sealed a deal for ErlingHaaland from German Bundesliga side Borussia Dortmund. Jesus has one year left on his current deal at the Etihad Stadium and he has also been linked with Tottenham Hotspur in addition to Arsenal. The Brazilian international would boost the Gunners’ options in the central striker position if he joins them from Manchester City.

Arsenalhave plans to strengthen other positions apart from central striker. The fullback is a position that the Gunners want to strengthen due to the injury problems of first choice left-back Kieran Tierney and first choice right-back TakehiroTomiyasu. It’s not a surprise that Zinchencko is a target for Arteta and Arsenal as he has spent the majority of his playing time at Manchester City as a left-back. Zinchencko is a versatile player who can also play in midfield. As a matter of fact, the Ukrainian international plays in midfield for his country most times.

North London team Arsenal are in the market for a new fullback, a new midfielder and a striker this summer. A move for Zinchencko gives manager Mikel Arteta the chance to kill two birds with one stone. Zinchencko can cover two positions namely central midfield and left-back.

Initially, Manchester City signed Zinchenko as a midfielder before he was moved to left-back by manager Pep Guardiola. He has been mainly used as cover for Portuguese international Joao Cancelo at left-back or whenever Cancelo plays as a right-back.
