It was reported by the Manchester Evening News (MEN) that Gundogan picked up a knock after he dived to head a cross and bumped into fellow midfielder Fernandinhoon his way down. Gundogan was helped back onto his feet and the German thereafter limped off the field as the training session ended.

Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola has named a 24-man squad for the Champions League final trip to Portugal and all the players were available for the latest training session.

The aforementioned Gundogan was a doubt after he was substituted early in the second half of the league game at the home of Brighton and Hove Albion last week as a precaution but was passed fit to travel with his teammates. Gundogan was left out of the last league game of this season at home to Merseyside outfit Everton on Sunday as a result of the knock picked up in the penultimate league game of the season against the Seagulls last week Tuesday. The German was part of the team that lost 3-2 to Brighton having been 2-0 up at the start of the second half.

Guardiola would hoping that the latest knock picked up by Gundogan won’t rule the German international out of the Champions League final against the Blues on Saturday evening. Guardiola and his Manchester City players have the opportunity to write their names in the history books if they can see off Chelsea to win the first Champions League title for the club. Manchester City had not reached the final of the competition until this season.
